Launched in 2022 and composed by Nathalie Lorson and Olivier Cresp, Gentleman Réserve Privée is the darker, more grown-up side of Givenchy's Gentleman family, and the house's story is that it was refined with Scottish distillers. It opens with bergamot and a smooth whisky accord, then chestnut, powdery orris and a touch of benzoin make a cosy, slightly sweet heart. The drydown settles into cedarwood and vetiver with warm amber nuances. The whisky is a soft, boozy glow rather than a blast of spirit, which is why it feels mature and easy to wear.
