Released in 2011, Creed Royal Oud is the house's take on oud for people who find the heavy, smoky versions a bit much. Creed describes it as inspired by the architecture of Persian palaces. It opens bright and peppery with bergamot, lime, galbanum and pink pepper, then moves into a dry, spicy heart of cardamom, clove, angelica seed and cedarwood. The drydown is where the oud arrives, smooth and polished alongside frankincense, guaiac wood and musk. It reads clean, woody and refined rather than animalic.
